The Bio Design series offers the opportunity for designers from fields as diverse as architecture, fashion design and product design to present and explore designs and design research which use living systems as part of their production and operation. The series offers readers in depth project descriptions, analysis of processes and the intellectual contexts of Bio Design. Such explorations have not, until now, been made available in long form. The series also allows designers to explore the potentials and challenges of bio design as an emerging field of design and research.
The Bio Design book series will distinguish between key areas within the field, including, design fictions, biomimicry, bioinspired design and the use of biological materials and systems. While open to a range of voices the series will, as a collection, offer unified framework for thinking about Bio Design opening up this new rapidly growing field to a new generation of designers and researchers.
